I am a historian and medievalist. My research explores the intersection of gender and political culture in northwestern Europe in the transition from the early to central (or ‘high’) middle ages, c. AD 900–1200, with a particular focus on the relationship between the ideals and practice of masculinity and rulership. My previous work focused primarily on later Anglo-Saxon England, c.871–1035, but my interests stretch beyond the Conquest and up until the 13th century.
